True to its aspiration of producing senior graduates who are ethical, innovative, socially responsive entrepreneurial environmentalists and elementary graduates who are value-laden, creative, socially aware young environmentalists, three (3) schools in the division won in the province-wide search for “Cleanest and Greenest” of the NariMAT nga Aglawlaw environmental awareness campaign.

Solsona National High School bagged the Championship award in the school level, Barong Elementary School won as second runner-up and also got the Environmental Management and Sustainability Award, while Pagudpud South Central Elementary School was adjudged as Best Anti-Plastic Implementer.

The said contest is a part of Governor Matthew Joseph Marcos Manotoc’s “NariMATT nga Aglawlaw: Pasalip Para iti Kadalusan ken Kalangtuan a Siudad, Municipalidad, Barangay ken Pagadalan”, an environmental awareness campaign of the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte launched last October 4 to recognize the efforts of the local government units (LGUs) and other agencies in managing the environment and to maximize the Ilocanos’ participation in community development.

“I am hoping that we can do all our part whether it’s a simple segregation and picking up after ourselves… Magiging twice a year na itong contest and I hope that all of you will continue to participate and push each other to clean our province, ensuring a safer and more livable province for all of our kailian,” Gov. Marcos Manotoc emphasized.
